Porterhouse Records was formed in the spring of 1997 by seminal punk rock guitarist Greg Hetson of Bad Religion, Circle Jerks and Redd Kross ,and Hollywood based record producer/musician Steve Kravac (check out Steve's discography here) whose production credits include MXPX, Less Than Jake and Tsunami Bomb.

The two met at the infamous Hollywood punk rock recording mecca Westbeach Recorders and quickly became freinds. Armed with an understanding of the plight of young bands and musicians, as well as the experience of touring and recording for indies and majors alike, the two sought to create a label that cut through the smoke and mirrors involved with the recording industry. Known for doing deals on nothing more than a handshake and their word, the two have begun forging what will surely be a lasting business model that is fueled by respect for the creative process, and the savvy of being invoved in the industry for over 20 years each.

Each band added to the Porterhouse roster has been selected for their indivdual merits as opposed to the strategy of many indie labels that adhere to a sonic likeness to create label identity. Fans that come to know the Porterhouse acts realize that the strength of the label comes from the diversity of it's bands and the recognition of their unique talents.

When Steve and Greg are not creating in the rock element, they can be found indulging their love of the great game of hockey. Look for them in the stands at Kings games supporting the hometown team.
