Speedbuggy was formed in 1995 by Hammond, Louisiana native Timothy Gruse, ex-NOFX guitarist Steve Kidwilder and bassist Brady Sloan. They recently brought in drummer Pat Munzingo to round out a solid rhythm section. Tim and Steve grew up 3 000 miles apart, they found a common ground in musical influence with Tim listening to country and cajun music in Louisiana and Steve from the small farming town of Merced CA, listening to country and Gospel before they both found punk rock back in the early eighties. Speedbuggy's country fried power pop blends a combination of Merle Haggard's drinking songs, Motorhead's amplified blast, Johnny Cash's down home lyrics, Jason and the Scorcher's light hearted antics and a dash of good ole' Hee Haw humor with harmonies that would make the carter family proud.Hardcore Honkey Tonk , produced by punk rock legend Greg Hetson and recorded by Steve Kravac, also features Greg Leisz ( KD Lang , John Doe , Victoria Williams , and the Rolling Stones ) on pedal steel. The combination of these talents has allowed for a grittier, and more intense feeling as if you were there.Speedbuggy has left the frilly stuff at home.

Since their inception, Speedbuggy has taken a non-traditional route to gaining a fan base bypassing all but Hollywood's infamous Bar Deluxe.Focusing their efforts on BBQ's and blue collar cowboy bars along with word of mouth, Speedbuggy has found themselves opening for such diverse acts as Bad Religion, Dash Rip Rock, Fu Manchu and the Circle Jerks.Tim explains, " We have rediscovered the music of our youth and have been able to bring the sound and honest lyrics to a modern light without losing sight of it's origins. Our fan base, a combination of both the working class and the school kid share a common goal which is to let loose , drink beer and pass a good time! " Furthermore Tim adds " They love us like a pig loves corn." Remember, you can take the punk out of country, but you can't take the country out of the punk. Good bye, good luck and god bless you.
